Based in Victoria and Vancouver, Power To Be began in 1998 with an idea: help people living with a disability or barrier access nature. The idea grew into a community, connecting participants to adventures and supporters to opportunities, collectively redefining our definition of ability. Every year, Campus joins action packed team-building adventure race "Power To Play" that guides racers across land and through water, pushing their limits to fundraise and work together in support of Power To Be. In 2018, Power To Play raised a total of $230,500 in support of inclusive adventures rooted in nature at Power To Play Victoria.
In 2017 our Campus Cure Crew raised an incredible $18,020.40 which landed us the #1 fundraiser spot in Victoria. This event brings together an incredible community of people who have a personal connection to breast cancer and want to show their support. It's an inspirational day that raises significant funds for CCS, the largest charitable funder of breast cancer research in Canada. CCS invests these dollars in the most promising breast cancer research that is leading the way in prevention, diagnosis and treatment and care, as well as funding Canada's leading breast cancer patient support network, which works to improve the quality of life and the emotional support needed for those affected by this disease.
1Up Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre is a registered non-profit charity that has been committed to serving the varied and changing needs of single parent families in the Greater Victoria area since 1978. They provide practical support, opportunities for growth and a sense of hope to 1,800 one-parent families across Greater Victoria. Every year, Campus raises money to provide beautiful, personalized hampers for single-parent members and their children.
Campus Auto Group is an official sponsor of Bays United FC, a non-profit community soccer association based in Victoria, BC. As one of Victoria's largest clubs, Bays endorses 'soccer for life', bringing the sport to approximately 1,500 individuals ages 5 to 60 and beyond. Bays values the Victoria community by bringing together people from different neighborhoods to play soccer, volunteer in community sports events, and simply to socialize as they enjoy this beautiful game.
Campus Auto Group is a sponsor of the University of Victoria Men's Hockey Club which competes in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) along with TWU,SFU, EWU, TRU, and Selkirk College. UVic has captured the BCIHL Championship three times in league history, most recently in the 2011/12 season after defeating SFU in Kamloops, BC. The league features the talents of many skilled players who have chosen to pursue post-graduate education after their time in Junior A, Junior B, and the WHL. This gives students that wish to study at the University of Victoria the opportunity to continue playing a highly competitive level of hockey while acquiring a degree from a highly reputable institution. The Victoria Nikkei Cultural Society (VNCS) was formed in 1993 specifically to build a sense of community for those of Japanese heritage and/or those interested in Japanese culture in Victoria, BC. Throughout the year the VNCS organizes social events for its members, often with a theme related to a Japanese holiday or special occasion. The promotion of Japanese culture is not only for our members but is also open to the greater community.
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education. Campus joined 80+ volunteers this year to help with the 1st city-wide cleanup in partnership with City of Victoria. Together we removed over 650 lbs of debris off 10 beaches!
Campus Auto Group is a proud team sponsor of the Victoria Shamrocks. Shamrocks lacrosse began in 1950, the year after the old Memorial Arena opened, and has operated without interruption since. Even more than the nine Mann Cup Canadian Senior 'A' championships the club has won, it is the franchise's longevity that is its most impressive legacy. It would be hard to imagine the local Victoria sports scene without the Shamrocks.
Campus Auto Group is a sponsor of the Victoria Royals. The Victoria Royals are a major junior ice hockey team currently members of the B.C. Division of the Western Conference in the Western Hockey League (WHL). The team began play during the 2011-12 season after the League announced the relocation of the Chilliwack Bruins to Victoria. It marked the return of the WHL to Vancouver Island, 17 years after the departure of the Victoria Cougars. The Royals are based in Victoria, British Columbia, and play their home games at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
Campus Auto Group is a long-time sponsor of the South Malahat 4-H Club, a non-profit organization for youth 6-21. The District offers a number of animal and non-animal projects through the 10 clubs. The 4-H program teaches skills in the areas of public speaking, leadership, community involvement and general livestock knowledge. The goal of the 4-H program is Youth Development, by providing knowledge enhancement, leadership skills, citizenship training and personal development.
Since 1995, the Victoria Film Festival has been the centre for film on Vancouver Island, and Campus is proud to be a part of that. The VFF is committed to cooperation and collaboration with other arts organizations as well as the business community, with programs that are interactive, entertaining and educational. The Victoria Film Festival brings the world to Victoria's door by programming a diverse selection of Canadian and international films. They support the practice of all media artists with particular focus on Canadian independent media artists through exhibition of their work. The Victoria Film Festival ensures the vitality and continued excellence of media arts in the Victoria region by providing a complete survey of film and media art to the community.
